The safety, usability and costs of helideck nets are determined by the combination of material, design and installation method. Designed to last, our nets are extremely durable and resistant in diverse weather conditions.
Proven safety in all conditions
In offshore conditions, sun, rain, ice, salt water and guano inevitably lead to abrasion. As poor materials fall below their specifications surprisingly quickly, all offshore nets should be extremely durable and resistant to all kinds of weather conditions, including ultraviolet radiation.
The unique material used in our nets provides an optimal combination of strength, durability and lightness. The Frictape material is a blend of man-made and natural fibers. In addition to high durability and UV resistance, the material is electrostatically safe and non-flammable.
Over 40 years of experience in safety nets
Originally manufactured for cargo nets, parachutes and arresting barriers, the Frictape helideck net material and design have been in use for over 40 years. This gives us an extensive database on how the strength and other qualities of a net change over time in different circumstances.
Years of experience from real use adds to the accuracy of the lifetime estimations given to Frictape nets:
- 4-5 years for offshore helideck landing nets,
- 9-10 years for offshore helideck perimeter safety nets
- 10+ years for onshore helipad safety nettings.
International standards state minimum requirements for helideck nets. Our material and nets not only fulfill and exceed standards, but are designed to respond to real-life, worst-case scenarios, in all weather conditions – throughout product lifetime.
Our helideck nets are the only material and design in the market with offshore type approvals for both helideck landing net and helideck safety nets. The certifications have been granted by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
